Luke wore the number 5 on the Hoyas football team at Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Ga.
Five of his organs were dontated to others so that they could live.
Luke's bigger brother Jon changed his Wake Forest football jersey number to 5 in memory of Luke.
And Luke's footbal coach from Harrison High asked the student body to honor Luke by holding up five fingers at the start of the fourth quarter during the Hoyas football season. Pretty soon, Wake Forest fans were doing the same.
So we call it the Luke Abbate Fifth Quarter Foundation. Luke has moved on to the fifth quarter of his life with his Father above, where we know he is safe and happy. He will forever be in our hearts and missed so deeply here in our daily lives without him.
