The life and love of Luke Abbate is remembered today through The Luke Abbate Fifth Quarter Foundation and soon to be through a new movie titled The Fifth Quarter: The Jon and Luke Abbate Story. Written and produced by Rick Bieber, it's scheduled for release in late 2008.
The special bond between brothers and their love for football is also told here in this 5-minute video titled Wake Forest #5 , produced in 2006.
Driven by the tragic death of his younger brother, Jon Abbate helped lead the Wake Forest Demon Deacons to their most successful season in school history in 2006, including an appearance in the Orange Bowl in January 2007.
Jon played as an all-star linebacker for the Wake Forest from 2004-2006, becoming only the third player in ACC history to lead his team in tackles as a freshman, sophomore and junior. He was also the first Deacon freshman to earn league honors of any kind since 1976.
Signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2007, today Jon plays fullback for the Texans.
